Main Street Greeneville, Historic Greeneville Tennessee Main Street Greeneville in Historic Greeneville Tennessee is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1983, as one of five original Main Street communities in the state of Tennessee and is part of The National Trust for Historic Preservation program that encourages economic improvement and physical renovation within a twelve block area know as historic downtown Greeneville.
Main Street Greeneville lies in northeast Tennessee adjacent to the Appalachian Trail and is often referred to "as a jewel in the shadow of the Smoky Mountains." Greeneville has the distinction of being listed as: 39th in "Best 100 Small Towns in America"; "Top Mountain Towns Guidebook"; "Boomtown USA"; "The 50 Best Small Southern Towns"; "America's Most Charming Towns & Villages"; and named to the top 100 small communities in the United States.
In 2006, Appalachian GhostWalks began working with the former head of Main Street Greeneville's Nancy McNeese to produce the "Haunted Historic Greeneville GhostWalk" which now begins at the back entrance of the Haunted Historic General Morgan Inn in the historic district on Main Street Greeneville.
Investigations conducted included a full study historically and paranormal study of the beautiful and Historic Dickson-Williams Mansion, also featured on the Greeneville Tour.
