The Heritage Alliance, Historic Jonesborough Tennessee
Washington County Tennessee is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Highlands of Tennessee. The Jonesborough Heritage Alliance provides area historical and cultural heritage information to newcomers who are relocating to East Tennessee and to vacationing tourists seeking more information about the places they will see, or visit.
In combination with the Chester Inn State Historic Site and the Oak Hill School Heritage Education Program, Heritage Alliance resources, programs, and services provide the state's most in-depth glimpse into Jonesborough, Tennessee's first town. The Jonesborough Heritage Alliance was instrumental in helping Appalachian GhostWalks verify the historical portions of the "Haunted Historic Jonesborough GhostWalk" during its initial production in 2004 and 2005.
Information for the tour was collected through various mediums to include books and newsclippings, as well as audio recorded interviews with local residents, business owners, and area Historians. It was extremely helpful and we felt extremely blessed to have a resource such as the Jonesborough Heritage Alliance there to assist us as we were truly, at that time in Jonesborough - and East Tennessee history stepping out on a limb and into "unexplored and uncharted" territory.
Our year-round nightly, lantern-led walking tour, which may also be presented any afternoon upon request, deals with history as it verified our findings as paranormal researchers. Our Guides elaborate on the findings discovered while performing studies of unusual and unexplained phenomena which have occurred both inside as well as outside many of the buildings located along the path taken during our walk back through time.
