Soutern Appalachian history goes back farther than some people used to think. Recent discoveries made while excavating have revealed fossils dating to between 4.5 and 7 million years ago. An impressive and rapidly increasing list of fossils include ancient rhinos, tapirs, turtles, alligators, short-faced bear, weasels, red panda, rodents, and others, plus fossilized plant remains. The Gray Fossil Site opens in June 2007 and as is the case with all of our "Spook and Save" partners, will offer discounts on admission to guests traveling Appalachian GhostWalks. William King Regional Arts Center The "William King Regional Arts Center" is thought to be haunted as it is an old school, but it's also a wonderful museum where the exhibits change every three months so it's never the same museum. James-Ben: Studio and Gallery Art Center James-Ben: Studio and Gallery Art Center now has a roster which includes more than two-dozen local artists who are from Greene, Hamblen, and Washington Counties and is listed on the Governor’s "Arts and Crafts Heritage Trail". It has been recognized in "Crafts Report", the national magazine of arts and crafts retailers, and has been designated a regional gallery - one of only five in Tennessee so named.
