Step across the threshold of the Dickson-Williams Mansion and into a storied past filled with exquisite antique furnishings, immortal American heroes, and an intriguing history. A prime example of Federal architecture, the mansion was built in 1821 by Greenevilles first postmaster, William Dickson. During the Civil War, the mansion served as officers quarters for both Confederate and Union troops. Daily 90-minute tours depart from the lobby of the General Morgan Inn at 1:00 p.m. Tours are limited to 12 people. For group reservations, call 423-787-0500. No tours are given Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
The Dickson-Williams Mansion Tour is operated by Main Street Greeneville. Main Street Greeneville is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1983, as one of five original Main Street communities in the state of Tennessee and is part of The National Trust for Historic Preservation program that encourages economic improvement and physical renovation within a twelve block area know as historic downtown Greeneville.
