In the summer of 1985, there was little to do in the town where I lived and my family was very poor. I had a lot of time on my hands and after becoming absolutely entranced by the motion picture "The Goonies" released June 7th of that year, I began work on a model of One-Eyed Willie's pirate ship called "The Inferno". I didn't have the tools, or skills to build an exact replica, but I built the representation as close as I could get it. I was simply obessed with the movie and was determined to make it the best I could with what I had to work with...
Using scrap firewood and a hand bandsaw to build it's many parts, I even hand sewed the sails with an old spare sheet we had in the house. In addition, I actually used a magifying glass to focus the energy of the Sun to literally burn the letters into the wood to create the ship name "INFERNO" on the side of the model...
As I post this to our site as of this date, June 7th, 2010, the model is now a one of a kind antique and through the years my family and I have worked to carefully preserve this reprsentation of the Goonies pirate ship so that it will be around for years to come...

I'd like to think that it's part of what, today, makes me who I am. Many thanks to the Producer, Steven Spielberg and the Director, Richard Donner who created this motion picture, without which I might never have pursued the path I am on today. Special Note: The Blue Ray collector's edition of "The Goonies", with a board game inside, goes on sale in November 2010 to commemorate the movie's 25th Anniversary. Also, a huge event in Astoria, Oregon took place this weekend, June 5th and 6th 2010, with many sold out events there. It was put on by the Astoria-Warrenton County Chamber of Commerce. The mayor, at this time, actually had a cameo in "The Goonies" when it was films more than twenty-five years ago and was recently quoated as having said, "As we go, so goes the Goonies"...
